The weather looked doubtful but turned out fine and we welcomed 74 visitors.
A good number took the extra step and dressed for the occassion (1913). Several ladies won prizes for their effort.
The main event was a re-enactment of the ceremony to mark Arbor Day by planting a tree. We were led in by drum, the National Anthem was sung, the Headmaster spoke on the purpose, a student recited a poem, another student played 'Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree', and the hole was dug, fertilised and watered. After a short speech, a bottle brush tree was planted and a local priest blessed it.
